Your Legal Rights
You have the following legal rights:
- The right to remain silent;
- The right to have a lawyer represent you; If you cannot afford a lawyer, the Judge will appoint a lawyer to represent you.
- The right to be present at all court hearings that deal with your case;
- The right to call witnesses to testify on your behalf;
- The right to have a lawyer question witnesses who testify against you;
- The right to be given written notice of court charges against you;
- The right to have a public hearing;
- The right not to be locked up with adults; unless the Court orders you to be held at an adult facility due to safety reasons, your age or due to the seriousness of the offenses;
- The right to appeal the judge’s decision to a higher court.
