STREET LIGHT REPAIRS
Call the Department of Transportation & Environmental Services at 703-746-4066 or Dominion Virginia Power at 1-888-667-3000 to report a street light that needs to be repaired.
Please provide the exact location of the pole, and if possible, the number of the pole (metal plate on pole gives number). If you report the problem to the City, the City staff will notify Dominion Virginia Power to make the necessary repairs.
NEW STREET LIGHTS
To request the installation of new street lights, call the Department of Transportation & Environmental Services at 703-746-4025. A petition signed by all affected neighbors is required before the request can be processed.
ABANDONED VEHICLES ON PUBLIC PROPERTY
To report an abandoned vehicle (vehicle is inoperable and has not been moved in more than 48 hours), on public property call the Police Department at 703-838-4444.
The Police will place a 48-hour check on the vehicle and have it towed if it is not moved during that time.
ABANDONED VEHICLES ON PRIVATE PROPERTY
To report an abandoned vehicle on private property, call the Office of Citizen Assistance at 703-746-4800. An inspection will be made. If the car meets the legal definition of an abandoned vehicle (vehicle lacks a current State license plate, or a current City Tag, or a valid State inspection sticker and it has been in the same location for at least 4 days) the owner will be given 15 days to bring the vehicle into compliance with the City Code.
Upon reinspection at the end of the 15 days, if the vehicle has not been brought into compliance, it will be towed.
If you know of problems or notice code violations at a particular address call the Office of Citizen Assistance at 703-746-4800.
