Stormwater Utility

The City’s stormwater-related services include capital projects addressing stormwater collection and flood mitigation, storm sewer maintenance, water quality improvements, flood plain management, and the oversight of private development-related stormwater design and construction. Stormwater management is an important part of the Eco-City Alexandria initiative. City Council approved the Eco-City Alexandria Environmental Charter in June 2008, which outlines the City’s environmental vision and principles. Eco-City Alexandria’s Environmental Action Plan, Phase I and Phase II, which plan for the City’s short- and long-term environmental plans, are currently being developed.
