City of Alexandria to Host the Bavarian Brass Band “Jugendblaskapelle Maisach” from Maisach, Bavaria on Wednesday, September 14
The City of Alexandria will host the Bavarian Brass Band “Jugendblaskapelle Maisach”, 5 p.m., at Market Square, 301 King St. on Wednesday, September 14. The performers are from Maisach, a suburb near Munich in Bavaria and conducted by Bernhard Breitsameter. Admission is free, and attendees are welcome to bring chairs or sit around the bench seating in front of City Hall.
The student group plays typical Bavarian/German music: e.g. waltzes, polkas and marches. Jugendblaskapelle Maisach takes part in the opening parade of the Oktoberfest in Munich every year, and they play at several music festivals and in the most famous beergardens in Bavaria. The group will take part at the Steubenparade on September 17 in New York City.
Visitors to the historic district are encouraged to take the Metro Yellow or Blue lines to the King Street Metro Station in Old Town, ride the free King Street Trolley, take DASH or Metrobus, or park in one of the convenient parking garages or lots.
