Welcome to the Hart eScan and eSlate Voting System
Beginning with the June 12, 2012 Democratic and Republican Primaries, each Alexandria polling place will have two types of voting equipment--the eScan for paper ballots and the eSlate for accessibility. Both are secure, accurate and easy-to-use.
If you vote on the eScan, you will receive your paper ballot from an election officer and proceed to a private voting booth to mark your ballot. When you are done, you take your ballot to the eScan and insert the ballot into the Ballot Feed Slot. Your ballot is cast when you see the waving U.S. flag.

In addition, Alexandria still has an accessible eSlate voting machine in every precinct (with headphones and tactile devices) to ensure that all voters can vote privately and independently. If you vote on eSlate, the election officer will give you a four-digit "Access Code" and you will proceed to the eSlate Voting Booth and follow the simple "How to Vote" instructions.
