City of Alexandria to Hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the New Multi-Sensory Mobile

The Honorable Mayor and Members of City Council invite the public to the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Multi-Sensory Mobile on Saturday, January 21 at City Hall, 301 King St. at 8:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be available, and the ceremony will occur rain or shine.

Donated by the Kelley Cares Foundation, the Multi-Sensory Mobile is equipped with ball pool, bubble mirror, therapy chair, aromatherapy, interactive hurricane tubes, textile wall, musical squares and a variety of sensory kits. Focusing on individuals with sensory integration dysfunction, cognitive, developmental and physical disabilities, and the mobile provides for a therapeutic environment in which individuals can experience safe, stress free leisure based learning.

The Kelley Cares Foundation is a mission of love for their dear daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend. Kelley Swanson was a vibrant, fun-loving and energetic young woman who left us too early. Kelley was a very active volunteer for the Therapeutic Recreation Program from the fourth grade through her graduation from T.C. Williams High School. This Foundation was formed to carry on Kelley’s civic-minded spirit and her desire to make people aware of the need for inclusion regardless of ability.
